Police say robbery victim was shot on Dam West sidewalk, not inside a business

AURORA | Aurora police said a shooting and attempted robbery Saturday in Dam West took place on a sidewalk and not inside a business.

Sgt. Bill Hummel, an Aurora Police Department spokesperson, said four people told police they were walking down the sidewalk on the 11600 block of East Cornell Avenue when a car approached the group.

It is still unclear whether individuals exited the car, Hummel said, but at some point, one of the pedestrians was shot and rushed to an area hospital.

The victim was a juvenile and sustained non-life threatening injuries, Hummel said.

Hummel said APD has not made an arrest in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
