Police investigating 2 attempted child abductions near Mission Viejo

AURORA | Aurora police are looking for leads after investigators say a man attempted to kidnap young children near Mission Viejo Park on two different days earlier this month.

Police said a man wearing a ski mask and a red-and-black flannel shirt tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl playing outside near the corner of South Richfield Street and South Quintero Way at about 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 5.

One week later, a bald man with a dark beard attempted to grab a 12-year-old in Mission Viejo Park at about 6 p.m. The man may have had tattoos on his arms, police said.

It’s unclear if the same man was involved in both incidents.

Investigators are asking anyone with potential information related to these attempted child abductions to call the Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for rewards up to $2,000.

Police encouraged parents to remind their children to be vigilant when outside in the area.
