Coroner yet to identify John Doe struck and killed while walking on Arapahoe Road in Aurora Saturday


AURORA | Investigators with the Arapahoe County Coroner’s office are still trying to identify a man who was struck and killed while walking in traffic on East Arapahoe Road Saturday night.

The man remains a John Doe two days after the driver of a Chevy sedan struck him in the 14700 of Arapahoe at approximately 10 p.m. Aug. 9, according to information released by Aurora police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A representative from the local coroner’s office said initial efforts to identify the man using fingerprints have been unsuccessful.

Of the nearly 700 bodies transported to the coroner’s office in 2018, 94% were identified within 24 hours, according to the office’s most recent annual report.

The driver who struck the man remained in the area after the collision and is cooperating with authorities, police said.
