City hosting discussion on future design standards

The city is hosting a Neighbor to Neighbor Roundtable to discuss single family residential design standards. The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on July 10 at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Pkwy.

This roundtable will discuss the draft residential design standards update to the city’s current standards. The update will address new market demands for single family homes, including buyers who want energy – and water – efficient homes.

The city’s current standards rely on the amount of masonry to gauge the quality of the home. The draft reduces the amount of masonry required, but provides for more stringent architectural controls, and incentives for builders to include energy saving features. The new draft will help to create a community that is more “green.”

A light supper will be served so reservations are required. Please RSVP by calling 303-739-7402.
