AURORA | Officials recovered a body from a spillway connected to the Cherry Creek Reservoir Tuesday afternoon.
Officials with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said divers pulled a body from deep water in the narrow strip of water near Interstate 225 and South Parker Road at about 1:10 p.m. May 11.
Authorities are still determining whether the person’s death was a suicide or homicide.
A request sent to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office seeking the identity of the person who was found dead in the water was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
The body recovery May 11 came less than two weeks after a 26-year-old Aurora man died in the adjacent Cherry Creek Reservoir. Christopher Carmon drowned after capsizing a kayak as a fast-moving spring storm produced strong winds the afternoon of May 3, according to authorities.
