AURORA | Aurora police have released few details following the shooting death of a man near East Alameda Avenue and South Sable Boulevard Monday night.

Officers were sent to the Circle K gas station just west of Aurora city hall at about 9:20 p.m. May 5 after dispatchers received multiple reports of a shooting in the area, police wrote on a department blog.

First responders found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has identified the slain man as 21-year-old Russell Davis. He died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Investigators have yet to make any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting.

The death Monday evening was the first reported homicide in the city in more than three weeks.
