APS, Cherry Creek close schools for Wednesday anticipating blizzard conditions

AURORA | Aurora Public Schools and Cherry Creek schools canceled all school and evening activities for Wednesday in anticipation of hazardous winter storm conditions.

Pickens Technical Institute classes are also canceled.

Both school districts joined dozens of others across the state closing schools for Wednesday in anticipation of severe weather.

“In the interest of safety, staff and students should stay home,”APS officials said in a press release.
The Cherry Creek School District officials  said before-and-after school classes are canceled along with regular classes.
City of Aurora officials said they’re currently monitoring the storm and will announce possible delays or closures later.

A developing late winter storm is expected to bring blizzard conditions to parts of southeast Wyoming and eastern Colorado, including greater Aurora.

The National Weather Service says the storm was expected to begin in Wyoming early Wednesday morning and become more intense throughout the day as it spreads into Colorado.

Eastern Colorado, including Aurora, Greeley, Limon and Colorado Springs, could get 4 to 12 inches of snow and winds up to 75 mph.
