1 man shot, 1 man arrested in north Aurora Thursday; 6th shooting in 7 days

AURORA | One man was shot and another arrested in north Aurora Thursday morning, according to tweets from Aurora police.

Police reported the shooting on Peoria Street just north of East 13th Avenue shortly after 11:30 a.m. July 9.

About 10 minutes later, authorities reported that one man had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

The severity of the injuries sustained by the man who was shot are currently unclear.

Residents are encouraged to stay away from the 1300 block of Peoria Street as authorities continue to investigate what led to the shooting. Investigators believe the two involved men knew each other.

The incident Thursday marks the sixth shooting in the city in the past week. One man died after being shot near East Colfax Avenue and Beeler Street on July 5, and two more people were shot and killed near the same north Aurora intersection two days later.
