Man arrested in shooting at Town Center of Aurora

AURORA | One man is in custody after a shooting Sunday in the parking lot of Town Center at Aurora mall.

Police said Dornell Harvey, 25, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. The victim, an adult male whose name has not been released, is in stable condition, police said.

“This was an isolated incident as there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect,” Aurora police spokeswoman Officer Diana Cooley said.

Harvey’s mug shot has not been released because investigators still need to use it in photo lineups, Cooley said.

Officers were called to the bustling mall near East Alameda Avenue and Interstate 225 around 5:15 p.m. Sunday on a report of a shooting. Police have not said where in the parking lot the shooting occurred.

Harvey is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to jail records.

It’s unclear whether some or all of the mall has closed due to the shooting.
