A local pastor was shot in the leg July 4 during an apparent robbery near East Colfax Avenue.
The pastor, whose name was not released, is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. when the pastor, 51, pulled into a parking lot at Colfax and Nome Street, police said.
Seconds after the pastor parked, two people approached the truck and attacked him. The pastor fought back and the fight spilled into the parking lot, where police say one of the suspects shot the pastor in his leg.
The suspects fled the area and were last scene a few blocks north near East 19th Avenue and Peoria Street, police said.
One suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s,about 5feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with short hair. The second suspect was also a Hispanic male and described only as skinny. Police said that although the pastor works with youth in the community, they do not believed the suspects and victim knew each other.
Aurora police spokeswoman Sgt. Cassidee Carlson said investigators believe robbery was the motive for the attack.
Police released video of the attack Friday and are offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two suspects. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information as well.
