AURORA | Aurora Congressman Jason Crow is hosting a virtual town hall Monday focused on the recently-passed infrastructure and Build Back Better bills and their relevance to the 6th Congressional District.

“This package will not only give a boost to our economy and working families, it pays for these benefits by closing loopholes and making sure big corporations pay their fair share in taxes,” Crow said of the BBB bill upon its passage in the House earlier this month.
But the legislation still faces an uphill battle in the Senate, where two Democratic senators, Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, are holdouts.
President Joe Biden signed the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill into law earlier this month. Crow was in attendance, saying after in a statement saying that the package is a “life-changing investment for the American people.”
The bill allocates $110 billion for roads, bridges and other major projects across the country. According to federal estimates, around 20% of the nation’s highways — about 173,000 miles — are in poor condition.
Other funding in the bill includes $39 billion for modernizing public transit, $65 billion for broadband infrastructure, $65 billion to improve the nation’s electric grid, $55 billion for water projects and $25 billion for airport-related projects.
The Biden administration estimates the funding will create around 2 million jobs per year over the next decade.
“…As someone who has worked construction myself, I cannot overstate the impact these good paying jobs will have on our community,” Crow said of the legislation. “This is exactly the investment we need to jumpstart our economy for hardworking folks here in Colorado, and position our country to lead well into the future.”
