DENVER | Real estate records are showing signs of a new wave of foreclosures looming in Colorado.

According to the Denver Post (https://bit.ly/MF6vS8 ), the ability to foreclose on overdue mortgages has more than doubled in the first five months of the year in the seven-county Denver metro area.

The newspaper says if mortgage holders exercise their options, it could be the worst of the foreclosure crisis since it began in 2007.

Assignments of deeds of trust needed to foreclose are up by 72 percent in Boulder County, and up by 213 percent for the same period in Adams County.
