CANON CITY | The Canon City City Council is considering asking voters to decide whether to allow retail marijuana sales.
The Canon City Daily Record reported Sunday the measure would also ask voters whether to impose a tax on marijuana if retail sales are approved.
The tax revenue would be used for city streets.
The council is scheduled to consider the measure Monday night.
Colorado voters legalized retail marijuana sales statewide effective Jan. 1 but municipalities can opt out. Canon City currently has a moratorium in place barring retail sales.
