Alameda Avenue to close east of Sable in Aurora for overhead wire repairs

AURORA | A full closure of East Alameda Avenue between Sable Boulevard and East Alameda Drive is planned starting Aug. 14 for I-225 rail line work.

The closure, slated to begin overnight Sunday, is expected to last a few days while crews working on Regional Transportation District’s “R” Line light rail system repair overhead wires damaged in another phase of construction in the area.

Motorists are urged to use East Mississippi Avenue and South Chambers Road as alternate routes. The northbound and southbound lanes of South Sable Boulevard will still be open, as well as Alameda Ave. west of the Sable intersection.
